SEO Academy

theSEOacademy.com was a project that never got fully implemented, but I may work on it soon. It was going to be an interactive online class (of sorts) for teaching people search engine optimization.

I came up with the idea four or five years ago, long before online education became what it was today. These days you can take free courses online at Coursera, Udacity, MITx, and others…with the popularity of those places rising, it might just be time to bring the SEO Academy to light.

Basically it was going to consist of a series of video lectures, a text book written by me, and graded tests. Upon completion, students who passed the tests and completed the assignments would receive a certificate of completion.

The great thing about this, is that nearly all of it could be automated. You might need a TA to answer questions from time to time…but maybe not even that if you could implement a forum where classmates could help each other.

I really like the idea of online learning…but I’d like to charge for it and with the current state of the industry gearing towards “free”, I’m not sure if there’s a market for it.
